Amazon has just opened it’s own Android App Store. The Amazon App Store offers several advantages over Google’s for mobile casual gamers. One of the major advantages is the ability to pre-play games right in your web browser before purchasing the game. No you did not read that wrong! You can pre-play games through an online web based Android emulator, before you purchase or install games. This is great as try before you buy should eliminate most cases of buyer remorse caused by sucky games.

Amazon is also screening games. They are making sure that apps function and are generally safe for users. Their is no such quality control in Google’s store. This alone would be a reason to switch to Amazon.

Another advantage is free games. Amazon will offer normally paid apps for free on a daily basis. The idea is to keep you coming to the store. If you don’t find that the free title meets your needs, maybe you will buy something. Don’t worry about the developers starving, Amazon will still pay them even if their apps are given away for free. Pretty cool, Huh?

We save the best for the last. In typical Amazon race to the bottom fashion, Amazon will be discounting games undercutting Google app prices. How can you argue. Free trials, safer apps, free apps and lower prices! Looks like Amazon is really shaking up the Android world.

The world’s most popular smartphone game Angry Birds is now available for PC from Intel’s AppUp Store. Angry Birds PC is available for Windows XP and Windows 7. Angry Birds PC is available as a download and play game for $4.99 and requires the installation of Intel’s AppUp store application. You can visit the Angry Bird’s page on the AppUp website to start the process.

At first glance the original Bloons! did not look like it could become one of the most popular free Flash games ever made. When you launched the first level you were presented with a poorly rendered monkey with a dart, some moving clouds and a couple dozen or so colored balloons.  At the bottom of the game screen a simple status board appeared with a simple phrase in a hand written font “Pop Me”.  If you were one of the billions of players who looked past the poor art, below average sound and clunky animation and followed those directions you experienced some of the most addicting and rewarding puzzle solving game play ever devised.

Bloons 2 takes the basic elements of the original Bloons! and adds a lot of polish. The graphics maintain the original flavor but add a bit of scenery and backgrounds to the plethora of levels. The dart throwing monkey has been redrawn, and well looks a little bit more like a monkey! The status bar has been updated and redesigned in a more professional manner. Game options have been expanded with the ability to view a limited number of level solutions, the ability to skip levels and the ability to throw darts with “Max Power”. A basic level editor is also included to allow the design of custom levels but this is just the start. Bloons 2 also incorporates a coins system which allows players to spend coins for game extras such as unlocked levels, extra abilities and even an expanded level editor. The coins system also provides a free upgrade which shows dart trajectory, prior to making a throw. The coin system is unobtrusive and in no way hinders the free play experience. In fact it is one of the very few implementations of a coin system that we are actually ok with.

Whether you just play for free or take advantage of the extras provided by the integrated coin system, Bloons 2 is a great update to one of the all time classic Flash games.  We highly recommend it for all players! What are you waiting for? Get Popping!
