Dan Hsu from EGM has spoken out via blog on the pressures exerted by game publishers on reviewers. Not only are they pulling ads but they are also restricting early access to games to those reviewers who play ball and give their games positive reviews. Isn’t this just underhanded payola? We’ll buy ads and grant access to game previews only if you give us the reviews we want.
The future holds increased governmental oversight for the gaming industry, as was seen in the early days of the record labels. No one likes the government sticking it’s nose into gaming but the game publishing scum bags deserve what they get. Visit EGM show your support for the good guys through page views!
