Finally a New Kind of Match 3 Game Crystal Battle

Don’t get us wrong we love Match-3 games. In fact we have several featured in our arcade. Some of our favorite match 3 games include Fishdom,  7 Wonders Treasures of Seven and Jewel Quest. The gameplay in each is mainly the same match 3 or more items to eliminate them. The main differences between the great match 3 games is the graphics, sound and the added mini-games, but all basically have the same underlying gameplay.

Crystal Battle brings some variety to match 3 gameplay. In Crystal Battle you battle against a computer opponent. Each of you starts out with 300 gems. The gems come equally divided into three colors blue, pink, and green. Your goal is to destroy all your opponents gems before he destroys yours. To destroy gems you match three objects during your turn that have the corresponding color to the opponents gems. For example you destroy 10 of your opponents pink gems by matching three pink lightning bolts. Each of you take turns trying to match objects until one of you has no gems left. Make sure you work quickly as you only have 30 seconds to complete each move. If you do need to stop the game, there is a pause button at the top of the screen.

You will notice other objects on the board. Red hearts, yellow fists and light blue shields. Matching three of these objects builds points to the use of a special ability. As you match these objects you will see that a corresponding progress bar will grow a certain amount toward the awarding of the special power. The heart restores 25 of each of your gems. The shield protects your gems from being destroyed by one of your enemy’s attacks and the fist doubles the damage you cause to your opponent.

In addition to the special abilities matching four or more objects at one time will give you another turn. You will quickly become annoyed at how often the computer is able to do this! But don’t worry the game is fairly well balanced and you will be able to beat the computer!
