Cargo Bridge a Great Free Fun Flash Game!

Every once in a while a free flash game will amaze even us! We spend hours and hours combing the net every day to find the best games out there for our arcade and blog. There are thousands and thousands of down right bad and ugly games out there. We try to weed out the bad ones and present only the best that we can find! Cargo Bridge is one that really caught us by surprise! The game is visually stunning, challenging and unique. All the things we like in a game!

You will find that Cargo Bridge has two modes. First there is the action mode. In this mode you have some workers who have some tasks to complete. Usually the workers need to move some cargo from one location across one or more chasms to another location. This is where you come in! You need to build bridges for them to cross the chasms. In the second mode, the blueprint mode, you do just that. You design and build bridges to span the chasms so the workers can move the cargo. Sounds simple? Well it is not!

In the blueprint mode you make a design for your bridge that combines two types of components connectors and walks. Connectors are light and cheap support structures and walks are walkways made of planks for your workers to walk on. Connectors are cheaper than walks but can not support the weight of the workers let alone the cargo. In the blueprint mode you must design the strongest bridge you can on a set budget. When you feel your bridge or bridges are ready you hit the stop watch icon to return to action mode and the fun begins as your workers move the cargo around and over your bridges. If the bridges collapse, Don’t worry! You can switch back to design mode to redesign your bridges.

The physic engine in the game is great! If the bridge you build is not stable, as soon as a worker tries to cross it may collapse. A semi well built bridge may support the workers but as they bring the cargo across, your bridge may collapse. Your workers are also no help. They really have no regards for their own safety and sometimes roll or bounce their cargo over your bridges causing extra stress.

After a couple of hours playing the game you will think you know more about bridge building than you could learn from a course in structural engineering! You will see that your bridges resemble those you see in real life. And you will find that you will be using common engineering principles in those designs. Just one hint: we found that arches really are your friend in this game!

Microbe Kombat a Great Flash Minute Filler from Hero Interactive

“What is a minute filler?” You ask. A minute filler is one of those games you play when you have a couple minutes to fill and can’t start anything that you might get too involved in. You might be waiting for someone to get ready to go out. You might be waiting for a ride or a class to start. In any event you want an enjoyable game that you can start playing for a bit and then easily quit and pickup later. You don’t want to start a tower defense game or time management game as any effort you put into setting up the game or playing early levels would be wasted. You just want some quick fast action to fill the void!

Microbe Kombat is one of our favorite “minute fillers”. In the game you start out as a small microcellular organism swimming around in some organic soup. Your goal is simply to survive in your hostile environment. In order to do this you must eat and avoid being eaten. Eating will cause you to grow and enable you to divide. Your diet consists of red specks of protein that appear at random in the soup and other organisms smaller than you. You also must avoid organisms bigger than yourself as you appear on their dinner menus! Once you consume all the competing microbes the game advances to a new level with new challenges.

Two strategies seem to develop. Grow your single organism as fast as possible by grabbing protein pellets before your enemies and try to consume the enemy organisms while they are small, or divide into a number of smaller organisms which may be able to get to the protein pellets before your enemy. Dividing is one of several abilities which you develop. The abilities are activated by clicking on their icons, located along the right side of the screen or using your number keys. Some abilities in addition to dividing are: extra growth, extra speed, stun and the ability to shift which unit you are controlling. Watch out for viruses as they will take away your abilities and eventually kill your organism!

This game offers a number of features that make it such a great minute filler. There is no involved setup or time commitment as you would find in a tower defense game. The levels are short, once you get the feel of the game. The game also lets you resume play at any level you have mastered after you have quit. So if you have a minute try out this great little flash game!
